From children to seniors, beginners to elite competitors, the YMCA of South Collier covers the whole court. Lessons, leagues, tournaments, social events and certified / experienced professionals to help you start or sharpen your game.
The YMCA Tennis Center is one of the finest of its kind for education, recreation and performance. We offer 8 clay courts that are all lighted for night play.
Tennis is included in every YMCA membership. All members can reserve free court time, use of the ball machine, attend social events, and benefit from member rates for clinics and instruction. Members also may take part in weekly round robins and represent the YMCA in competitive League play hosted by the USTA and CTA.
Private Tennis Lessons
YMCA offers a team of certified tennis instructors who specialize in providing a great educational environment for anyone seeking to learn and enjoy tennis. Stroke mechanics, strategy, mental and physical approaches are explained to increase the enjoyment and success of all who wish to learn. Private lessons, group lessons and clinics available.

MEET OUR TENNIS PROS!
Scott Pennington is a tennis and pickleball professional with over 30 years leading clubs and programs. Scott was a four-year starter in singles and doubles while playing college tennis for Virginia Commonwealth. Scott has achieved the highest level of certifications as PTR Professional, USPTA Elite Professional, ICI (Spanish System) Level 2, a GPTCA Level B, a USTA HPCP graduate, and is Master CRT with the USRSA.

Beginner Clinic 2.5 – 3.0: A 90-minute clinic which covers the foundations of the game perfect for those who are beginning or returning to the sport after time away.
Intermediate Clinic 3.5 – 4.0: A 90-minute clinic which moves players from strokes to strategy, while teach in the best ways to put together a winning plan through games and drills. This is for more advanced players that are participating in competitive leagues.
Doubles Clinic 3.0+: A 90-minute clinic which will focus on Doubles game play includes movement, techniques, and strategies for those who work with or without a partner to be a winner.
Cardio Tennis: A calorie burning workout which combines tennis specific fitness and on court hitting.

Our programs provide growing athletes the perfect foundation of skills and focus to help them learn. Using this tiered, skill based, progressive program will move players ages 5-12, through all the phases of tennis development preparing for high level play, while fostering a love of the game and a focus on physical fitness, coordination, mental discipline and valuable life skills.
Quick Start Tennis Program
Our Quick Start Tennis Program combines all aspects of tennis into a unique comprehensive training program for ages 5-12. Our methods focus on all aspects of mental and physical fitness, technique, strategy, and ultimately matchplay. This program takes place from September-April during the school year. Sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays 3:30-4:30pm.
Round Robin is a program designed for social tennis. This program is all-inclusive and allows for different levels to play together. We have Round Robin play everyday starting at 8:00am. Women play Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Men play Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On weekends we offer Mixed Round Robins. Sign up to play at the Tennis Office. Throughout the year, we host several tennis tournaments at our facility.
Davis Cup: We use a nation format to play this event where player are divided into groups and compete against each other.
For The Love Of The Y: This is our flagship tennis event. We have more than 100 participants that enjoy a nice weekend of tennis! February 19-20, 2022 Learn More
Help a Diabetic Child: This is a fundraising event to promote awareness of childhood diabetes. This event is held in December.
Fall/Spring Fling: These 2 events are held in November and March. These are the opening and closing events for our tennis season.
Here at the YMCA on Marco Island, we have over 300 active league participants. This past 2020 season, we had 24 teams ranging between 12-14 players each participating on the USTA and CTA Leagues.
